Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis (BIVA) and Somatotype in Female Rugby Players

چکیده
Body composition (BC) determines strength, power, and agility in sports such as rugby. Not only is the study of morphology BC essential to establish player positions, but it also allows optimisation competitive performance. The aim this was analyse different models (anthropometry bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA)) a female rugby team. Their somatotype compared with vector (BIVA) graph. A cross-sectional carried out on 19 women (8 forwards 11 backs). Anthropometric BIA (50 kHz, tetrapolar electrode configuration) measurements were taken using standard protocols estimated. Somatotype calculated Heath–Carter method. Classic specific BIVA applied. Student’s t, Mann–Whitney, or Chi-squared tests used for variable comparisons. Agreement determined via intraclass coefficient correlations. Forwards showed higher BMI fat mass, there no differences skeletal muscle masses. Most players an endomorphic mesomorph somatotype. Specific BIVA, not classic detected according position. Moreover, individual’s interpretation consistent their In team, are This both BIVA. application (classic specific) may yet prove be very useful strategy sports.

Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) in stable preterm newborns.
OBJECTIVE To observe the behavior of the plotted vectors on the RXc (R - resistance - and Xc - reactance corrected for body height/length) graph through bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIVA) and phase angle (PA) values in stable premature infants, considering the hypothesis that preterm infants present vector behavior on BIVA suggestive of less total body water and soft tissues, compared to r...
متن کاملBioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) to evaluate seasonal variations in body composition of elite soccer players
Background The body composition and its variation in time can affect the performances of soccer players. The body composition measuring techniques are based on a quantitative approach founded on indirect estimations of fat mass and lean body mass. The BIVA allows us to directly see the athlete’s body composition by means of impedance vector measuring (Z vector), irrespective of weigh and body h...
متن کاملBioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) for measuring the hydration status in young elite synchronized swimmers
PURPOSE The assessment of body hydration is a complex process, and no measurement is valid for all situations. Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) has emerged as a relatively novel technique for assessing hydration status in sports. We applied BIVA a) to determine hydration changes evoked by an intense synchronized swimming (SS) training session; b) to characterize the sample of youn...
متن کاملDifferentiation of cardiac and noncardiac dyspnea using bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA).
BACKGROUND There is no gold standard for the differential diagnosis of acute dyspnea despite the usefulness of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and lung ultrasound. No study has evaluated the contribution of bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) in discriminating between cardiac and noncardiac dyspnea. We sought to determine whether a relationship exists between ul...
متن کاملSpecific bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) is more accurate than classic BIVA to detect changes in body composition and in nutritional status in institutionalised elderly with dementia.
BACKGROUND A new analytical variation of bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA), called specific BIVA, has shown to be more accurate in detecting changes in fat mass than classic BIVA. OBJECTIVE To compare classic and specific BIVA in order to identify which is more strongly associated with psycho-functional and nutritional indicators in a group of institutionalised elderly patients w...
